Meddle is probably my fav Floyd LP. San Tropez in particular is an incredible track.

Agreed. I learned St. Tropez and I sometimes play it at acoustic open mics. When I say it's a Pink Floyd song, most folks are surprised.

well...here's my thoughts:

i love old PF...Piper at the Gates of Dawn...Astronomy Domine etc.

I think all that was a prelude to their two masterpieces Meddle & Dark Side of the Moon.

as far as i'm concerned, there is no Pink Floyd after DSOTM...they were just a shadow of their former selves, making music to make money...god bless 'em....they made a lot....BUT

anyway, put on One of These Days and settle in...by the time you have finished up with Echoes you will have experienced the best of the best.

Wish You Were Here and Animals were and are amazing, therefore, I totally disagree with you. I'm a long time fan with all their recordings and everything they did, especially with Waters, is really good; even the Final Cut.

The best thing that ever happened to Pink Floyd was Syd Barrett leaving (not the reason he left; that was a damn shame). If Syd Barrett had stayed with Floyd, I doubt we'd be having this discussion, since I think they would have been nothing more than an experimental fringe band. In fact if he hadn't gone mad, I doubt anyone would even know who Syd Barrett was. Dave Gilmour is one of the best guitarists of all time - Pink Floyd would have gone nowhere without him.

I 100% agree and I love the Syd Barrett stuff.

I stuck this CD in on my way home from class this morning. With the big snowstorm on the verge of slamming Kansas City, it was a cool backdrop to enjoy the music.

Meddle is great. It probably sees as much playtime as DSOTM. I enjoy Animals and WYWH. Oh, and The Wall...

To be honest, in terms of Floyd, I'm easily pleased with anything prior to 1980. I do consider the early/mid 70's to be their golden age, though.
