I'm thinking about switching my G and D to Passione's while keeping my A and E Permanents...how does the guage/tension of the Passione compare to the Permanent?

I'm not sure those are going to match particularly well. Passione strings are much softer and respond pretty differently from Permanents. If you really like your low Permanents, I've seen some people mixing those with Bel Cantos.
I just noted in one of the other string threads that I replaced the set of Permanents on Roberto Giormenti's bass with Passione Starks. The tension and diameter are much less. The sound is warmer and more focused (arco) than the Perms but not as full - certainly not as strong pizz as the Perms, but a very good orchestra string.
