PJ bass: switch to eliminate/solo each pickup?

line6man, what about a push/pull knob on the P pickup volume to "solo" it? I've been considering a PJ but want to do it right and get an unadulterated P tone when called for.

Sure...

This is the Jazz pickups volume pot in the diagram.
You can put the push/pull on the P pickup's pot if you want, but it was just easier to draw on the Jazz pickup's volume pot.

another idea similar to Orions, how about replacing each volume knob with one that switches when you rotate it fully anti-clockwise? Don't know what these are called but you often see them used on radios to control volume as well as switching it on and off.

well, guys, this is what makes talkbass such an outstanding community and a place to acquire knowledge
as a PJ owner, I've been extremely happy with the first answer already, by line6man, which we can call basic and perfect anyway, but even more could be said -- and learned...

I may have read this before, too... cause several years ago I replaced the PJ P for a normal P...
and desoldered the J pickup's wires...
I just forgot all the concept behind what I had done
and now I was thinking about taking out the J pickup for good... or perhaps installing a switch...
