I'm probably getting an SX PJ soon, and I have a question for the PJ club:

What are your favorite settings on the PJ? Obviously there is all J, all P, and both at full. Do you find uses for any of the more blended settings? I'd heard some people get the best sounds out of a J by cranking both p'ups and then turning down one or the other of them a bit to bring out the mids more. Anyone here doing something like that with a PJ?

I do that all the time, both with my Jazzes and my PJ's. Specifically, I usually keep the neck up to 100%, then drop the bridge down to about 90%. It keeps the "grit" in the sound without getting that volume-drop when both pickups are maxed out.

My usual sound, I find myself turning up the P on full and dialing the jazz gradually. Usually a 1/3 of the way works for me. Tone is usually a little less than 3/4 on the treble side.

I'm also a P 100%, J 80-90% player. I originally had my PJ wired up V-T-3 way switch, but am now much preferring V-V-T.
