PJ Club

Thanks for the like. It's an awesome bass- Here's a pic (actual bass!) from the Manne website which should avoid eyestrain!

There's a few Manne basses/dealers around in the USA (The Bass Place, Bass Club Chicago) but they're pretty few & far between.
A Ducati is a good comparison, as well as Maseratis & Ferraris, best in Italian Racing Red!

awesome - I absolutely love it! Thanks for posting!

My 71' PJ in various forms. when I got it, it was in a box full of parts and I have pieced it together. I tried a modulus neck on it for a while and I have gone back to the B width stock neck. I bought a new tortoise pickguard and I am thinking about going with a V/V stack + Tone and pickguard mounted jack

Ok, might as well put up my recent project for another club number...

Started out as a Squier P-bass, Affinity model. Sourced a MIM P neck for it, changed out the pickguard, new Gotoh bridge, routed it for a J-Pickup, Bartolini PJ set, super light Rotosound Swing Bass stainless strings, new wiring throughout.

The only things left from the original bass are the body, vol and tone knobs, neck plate, strap and straplocks.

Here's a pic:

All the best,

Shane

I just put a new aguilar pj set into my 1971 p and I have to say that the p alone is a perfect p tone with rotosounds and can really sound jazz like with the bridge up and the neck rolled back a hair. The p is a hair hotter than the split coil humbucking jazz bridge but they balance better than any pj set I've found and I prefer them to the nordstrands that I just took out

1991 Ibanez RD828LE. Made in Japan.

Belonged to a friend I run sound for, and I've gotten to sit-in with the band almost every night so I fell in love with it years ago.
P/J Low-Z Ibanez pickups and a preamp with treble and bass boost/cut plus blend knob.
Bound rosewood fingerboard on a 3-piece maple neck with similar profile to my 2004 Korean Iceman.
Basswood body so it's nice and light and resonates well for a great tone, although this also makes any dents result in major flaking.

This bass is in pieces all over my kitchen right now.
The back of the neck had some deep dents which I've steamed out, and it had about 50 bad scratches so I sanded it down then refinished with TruOil.
Now it's sporting a satin-smooth matte finish that's better than original.

Bridge was a disaster--I almost puked.
Saddles got Dremeled and are refinished with gun blue, and I'll tackle the baseplate tomorrow.

Body is next--found a heatgun in my garage to soften and peel the trashed red poly finish and considering a maple or walnut veneer with a black edge/clear center variation on a sunburst.
Or steampunk.
Maybe black with silver pinstriping to match the headstock and a custom pickguard.

This is my first PJ, but a friend of mine has a sweet collection of Jazz Specials that sounded incredible when I ran sound for him.
