Some beautiful basses here. Wow... I do have two PJ basses, but one I acquired recently has made me rethink of the tonal possibilities these can have. I have a Fender JP90. As these are going for cheap these days, I would highly recommend these basses if you find one in good condition and can get over the way the pickguard looks. (I think there's one currently in the classifieds here). I call this a Susan Boyle type bass, not visually attractive but a voice of an angel. lol. Super Fender sound at a light weight.

Dude, you always have the best looking instruments.

Thanks! Just got lucky on this one off of ebay....

The production basses from this year were black paint usually over basswood, but this one was "order made" in swamp ash with the black burst.

I love it - but it is the heaviest bass I own, weighing in at 9.8 lbs.

Frankenstein PJ Bass here. Just a super cheap hunk of bass that I upgraded all the parts on. usually wouldnt invest so much in a cheap instrument but it was a gift and played decent so figured id make it good enough to keep around. Not in the league as most of the ones posted, but i guess Im in :)

Messing with my rig this weekend at one point rolled only the J puckup up and was getting a tight focused ring to everything. Realized what I had done wonder if a JJ is more what I need at the moment. Main thing that concerns me is feedback and noise with single coils only. I may need to get a JJ and find out if this is the package I need. The P has always been the primary but now I'm not so sure.

All in the pickups/guitar I guess. I hated the J pickup in my squire PJ. When I just went to put a new pickguard on this weekend, three of the old wires let go, so I just soldered the P pup in and clipped the J right out for now.
Love it! Mind you, I really bought it for the P, thinking the J would be a bonus, but the J wasn't sharp for a Bridge pup and seemed to just reduce volume and bite when blended in. I'll likely pick up a J pickup (lol) at some point but I'm enjoying the pbass tone for now.

Tl;dr.... Moral is, make sure you try out some JJ's before you commit.

Yes. Non comittal at the moment but supprised me how bloomy the P was solo and tight the J was solo. Defining my setup some more helped differentiate this difference more. I have also rolled in a little more of the J but when I do since it's on it's own I start getting some noise as a result.
