PJ pickups: Will Power Middle + ...???

Hi all,

I bought a bass with a pj configuration and I'd like to use a spare will power middle dp 146 but I don't know what could be a good match on the bridge pickup who could match the power output. The will power is quite a dark pickup so I need something quite bright.

Any help? Thank you!

Try an UltraJazz. The Will Power middle is only a mildly juiced P-pickup.

I just installed the Will Power Middle on my MIJ Classic 70s P bass and I am finding it to be an amazing p/u on its own. Together with the Tonehammer 500 amp it has an incredible overdrive tone when running the bass and amp full in that it is very response to playing style (more so than any active or passive p/u I have ever used). Using the pad on the amp or backing off, cleans it up, WOW (I think I just found my signature tone;-)
Anyway in regards to the OP, I would be interested in matching it with a Voodoo or a Rio Grande J p/u as I believe these may have similar response characteristics based on reviews. I have the Voodoo's in a Bravewood Bass of Doom and they are impressive in regards to response and tone IMHO (I wouldn't even consider changing these out).

If you wire a model J in series mode, it may get hot enough to blend well with the WPM pickup. I have one as well, and it is freakin HOT. Like babaseen said, you can use an input pad and still get very usable volume out of it. Excellent for tube heads or anything that "grinds" when you push the preamp section, can't wait to toss mine in the new Peavey Fury I'm getting and play through my GK Fusion 550...I'm counting on some great overdrive.
