I have an ESP B-50 on the way which is the model with the PJ configuration. The pickups and preamp may be just fine but I'm guessing that since it's a $200 bass that they won't cut it. Plus I prefer passive anyway.
I'm planning on replacing them with the Nordstrand npj4se set which is the p-bass split coil and the jazz bass humbucking split coil. I understand that using 500k pots will give me closer to a traditional P-bass sound when the jazz volume is turned all the way down.
So the questions are...
1) Do you think these pickups and 500k pots are a good combination
2) I usually mod my jazz basses to have the serial/parallel switch. Would this give me a significant tone option in a PJ setup?
