PJ5 options

Update: I am close to dropping some coin on a 2nd hand Reggie Hamilton Custom shop V! Will keep you all updated.

I must say - I am surprised at the little amount of info or reviews on this bass around. I know Cheese has played the 4 string MIM - is there anyone that can give me any info on these? surely someone has played on in a shop at least?

They are not that common. The main thing I hear that a few of them are pretty heavy.

That was the main thing I read also. This one weighs in at 9.4lbs - which I thought was pretty reasonable!

Any word on the how the B string sounds?

In the end it is a Customshop Fender. My 64 NOS Jazz is an amazing bass. I refuse to believe that it could be a dog of a bass...

I just finished this PJ5, with a body and neck from Cyr Guitars. Not exactly boutique, but it's mine.

Well I jumped in and got the 2nd hand Fender Custom Shop Reggie Hamilton 5! Just checked the FedEx tracking and it is in the country - I should see it by the end of the week.

It is the same colouring as Gillento's Sadowsky NYC posted earlier in this thread which my fav colour combo of all time!

Needless to say I can't wait for it to arrive.

I'll make sure I give a full report - and if for some reason my finances don't allow me to keep it (it is tight...) I'll be sure to let you guys know. I stumbled on this following a link to look at a Valenti and it is the first one of these I have EVER seen for sale 2nd hand so I had to jump on it....

It's here!!!

FedEx had it here in 3 days shipped on economy!! amazing! PA to Oz in 3 days..

This thing is a tonal monster! still getting my head around it! It absolutely thundered thru my Eden 212xlt last night - might have to consider keeping that cab.

Action is low and fast - and the bass is light. This was my biggest fear - that it would be heavy.

The only thing I would change is to put the extender key on the E string rather than the B - I just don't see a use for an open low A where as having a drop D to me is useful - for both position and having that note on an open string.

Just had to share!!:hyper::bassist::D
