How does the double sided tape hold up over time? I would like to try this idea on my Sadowsky but don't want to put holes in the bass.

funny how you ask...

i put on the tape last night and it holds well...the only thing - due to my limited woodworking skills, i didn't get the ramp tight enough to the body as i would like, so i'm going to end up drilling and using screws. this is why i use a cheap MIM Jazz

Go to a hardware store and get the stronger double sided tape. It will hold forever and it won't damage your bass. The usual scotch double sided tape won't do the job.

I just made mine flat to match the pickup, I like the feeling of one even surface under my fingers. Here's another pic of mine.

Jacek at .nexus guitars build my ramp, actually he built two because the first one, while done properly, wasn`t quite what i wanted. If done perfectly to the setup, string height etc. ramp is a nice thing, it helps to have a place to land your finger on. Great thumbrest, too. Mr. Willis had a good idea.

I attach the two ramps with double-sided tape as well, the heavier duty 3M ones.

The front ramp is contoured to match the fingerboard radius as well as lateral radius. The middle one is flat, like the pickups.

Matching the radius of your fretboard is best, so long as that's how you adjust your string height (which is what most people do). This way, there's an equal distance between the ramp and the string. If you have your strings radiused to match your fretboard and you use a flat ramp, the distance between the ramp and the middle strings will be farther than the distance between the ramp and the strings on the ends, making for an uneven feel.
