Playing/recording into computer?

Hi There,

First off i've had a quick look around and not found anything that is of much use to me.

Basically i just want to be able to play into my computer and be able to record. Nothing too fancy about it, but need it to have good sound quality.

Whats the best way to go about it? Simply plugging into the line in or can this cause sound damage? I have a zoom b2.1u which has a interface or something but im not to sure what it does, so if someone can tell me the best way to go about doing what i need to do that would be great. If you need any extra infomation just say.

Cheers

My suggestion is to look at some of the equipment available from Alesis or M-Audio. They each offer excellent products that interface well with most major software suites (Cubase, Garage Band, etc.). Simpler products with a USB or FIrewire interface are very reasonably priced.
