Playing under a bouzouki

I've been try to record a part in my DAW (Reaper) where i play under a sampled bouzouki. For the life of me i can't get my part to sound in tune against it. Any tips/solutions/explanations? Thanks!

That's a good point. I assumed the person who made the sample was in tune. They may not be. Not being familiar with the instrument, i just assumed any quirk in it's sound is just inherent in the instrument.

Bouzoukis tune to A440 no problem. Original track is out of tune. Tune your bass to compensate.

The zouk will most likely be tuned GDAE or GDAD . As above , tune your bass to suit . Can you still contact the zouk player , in case he did anything weird ?

Tune the bouzouki sample to the correct 440hz pitch with a pitch shift app.

Thank you all for the tips. Not knowing anything about the bouzouki left me wondering if it was just a weird instrument that, as good as it sounds, was kind of hopeless to play against. Now I have some information and ideas to work with in fixing it. Excellent.
