I brought home a 1x10 Montarbo(model: 210) today along with a Crown Macrotech 1200.
The speaker was from an old installation in my old church and has been sitting in my warehouse for a quite a while.
The montarbo has a 1" compression horn driver.
I fired it up at home with my Acoustic image CLarus 2R series ii and brought out my fender jazz 77.
Oh my oh my.... i get that instant slap mojo straight away along with a well defined bottom.
It definitely cannot be use for a rock gig but its perfectly suited for a jazz setting, maybe even for big band.
(rock gig? maybe if i pair another 5 of them in my warehouse)
My main rig is matched with a ACME B2 or B1 and i must say the Montarbo has a volume almost as big as the B1 but has a little more mid-range suited for electric bass.
I brought out my Zeta uprite and it definitely has a good bottom and high end for straight ahead tunes.
I open it up and the drivers are B&C and definitely ferrite.
Just wondering if i should swap some eminence neodymiums in for a super light package.
With the crown, the sound is a little more hifi-ish and has a little more volume without distorting.
Just happy to share my findings.
I'm bringing it for a gig tonight and will try it with my acoustic double bass soon.
Wonder if anyone else uses PA speakers for their rig and is working well.
