What differentiates a Class A, AB, B, C?, D, etc. from each other? I just have a general curiosity. Also, why if there are Classes beyond D is D the height of tech right now?

As far as high power amps go, for pro level amplifiers, they all sound the same.
The measured frequency response, distortion, etc. is all beyond human hearing. It's all the same.
The pulse width modulation (pwm) are the hot thing because the technology and engineers have caught up to their design and manufacture. People like the weight. They're just as reliable as any technology.

But the racks can be much lighter weight because they carry much lighter weight.
It's to the point where the cables are going to weight more than the amps.
