Please help me create a budget rig

If you are getting a head that can get down to 2ohms instead of 4ohms, then get a cab of 4ohms instead of 8ohms. Then, later, you can get a second cab to get max power.
is that what you have? i'm basically looking at your exact rig. Midnight wine jazz as well... all except mines left handed. :)

I'd look into Ashdown heads to pair with an Avatar cab, most likely the 212. That would sound great. Looking used, see if you can find a good Eden head in the price range. The Yorkville 800 watt (or the 400 watt version should be fine too) head would be awesome as well. I don't think the Kustom would fit in your setting too well... As for other cabs, Dr. Bass makes good budget cabs and there have been good reviews on Steelsound cabs recently as well.

Here's a link to the thread (review) I wrote on the Steelsound 2x12:

Solid cab for $170 shipped.

For a super head at a great price - I might suggest a Nitrobass (Peavey) used (should be right at $250). It will put out 450 watts at 2-ohms and sounds nice. Check out it's reviews at harmony-central.com....

Both of the above for just over 400 dollars total - talk about budget!

Hope we're not overwhelming you with suggestions.

Take care,
Jay

If your getting a peavey head id say go all out and get a Firebass, ive seen them in mint condition going on ebay in the US for $300, thats 475watts at 4 ohm and 700 watts at 2 ohm :)
