Not to sound negative, but let's not decide, use your ears instead! It' going to be your amp and your sound, not ours. But if you want my opinion, I like the Ashdown stuff over the Hartke.

What genre of music, catches your ear? I am an Ampeg man have been for 35 years... I am too prejudiced not to recommend finding vintage ampegs.. if you can afford to find yourself a B15N Portaflex. It is one of the most versatile Amps ever.

I'm a new bass player. I have a Geddy Lee bass. As far as the music that I'd like to learn-Reggae, Funk & Blues (maybe some Rock also).
