Please recommend a JMJ Mustang pickup

I got a JMJ Mustang bass and like the pick up, but I’m wondering if there’s a general consensus of any other more boutique ones sounding better. For example, I read somewhere that perhaps JMJ himself used Novak pick ups. Has any one tried Novak or Lollar or anything else? I play classic rock, blues, etc. with no pedals. Flatwound D’Addario strings. I’m looking for something that is either as close to vintage as possible or an improvement. Any recs would be great!

I prefer the Nordy Mustang pickup. It has a little more wire than a stock Mustang pickup, and it has two poles per string. So the pickup tone approaches P-bass territory, but retains the clarity. I have one in a short scale travel bass that sounds great. I can approach the Bill Wyman tone '69-'71.

Hi !

I would like to add a bridge pickup on my Fender Mustang Bass JMJ Signature...

- GIBSON EB STYLE PU-0419-010 Bass Humbucking Pickup Bridge
PU-0419-010 Bass Humbucking Pickup Bridge
or
- HOFNER STYLE PU-6420-010 Chrome Pickup for Hofner Style Bass
PU-6420-010 Chrome Pickup for Hofner Style Bass
or
- CURTIS NOVAK H22 Goldfoil Bridge Pickup
H22 Goldfoil
or
- SEREK B90 Single-Coil Bass Pickup
Adjustable B90 Single Bass Pickups - Serek Basses
or
- Blade Bridge Pickup (EMG, Bartolini, JBE, Nordstrand, Lollar...)

Etc... I don't know!?

I don't want to add pots or switches, no push-pull and not move the jack on the edge, no side jack hole !

Simple and effective, I just want to have the 2 pickups working together constantly to have a little more "snap" in my sound and to exist more in a mix, especially live !

I would like the Mustang Bass split coil pickup and the additional bridge pickup to work together permanently and in parallel mode, is this possible and what do you think, please ?

Pickup ? Wiring ? Output ? String spacing issues ?

Thanks.

May the Groove be with you.

I'm a long way of finishing but im building a mustang with a bartolini musicman pickup towards the bridge and a nordstrand mustang pickup at or around normal position.
I'm planning on a 3 way switch though.

I played an mij fender mustang in a shop that had a musicman bridge pickup installed, it sounded amazing.
Unfortunately It was sold when I went back.
