please recommend a music-stand light

Oftentimes I'm playing in dimly lit stages while using a music stand. I'm looking for a clip-on LED light that runs on batteries. The amount of light doesn't have to be tremendous.

As I trust peoples opinions on here, I ask for your recommendations

subscribed. i hate those incandascent stand lights. the music is always taller than the light. an led light would be great, but i just read some reviews on them and they're not great.

I've bougth 5 of the lights the OP linked to for the band, except I bought the version with 4 LEDs (Invalid Link Removed). The premiered last Thursday, and for the first time everyone in the band could read the notes without effort.

An added bonus is that they can also be used as table lights, so you're not dependent on something to clamp to.

Who the heck is "Rene"?

It's partly plastic and quite slender so I'd make sure to put it somewhere reasonably protected. But I think it should hold up well if you keep it in your gig bag.

Jimmy, These things are the bomb. They fold up nicely and seem to be pretty well built. I've been using one for a few years now. You'd be amazed how much light they put out. The run on 3 AAA's and the battery life is pretty decent. They do seem to dim as the batteries get low. One nice feature is each light has it's own on- off switch. If for some odd reason one light failed, you sill would have the other. I bought s couple of cheap knock off on e-bay for spares. I can't comment on their quality, but I got each shipped from China for about $5 or so.

I've been using the Duet 2 for a while now. I prefer it to its little brother as it has the optional power supply, although I've yet to use it. The only thing I don't like about it is that I have to take the batteries out when I transport it as I've repeatedly pulled it out of my bag to find one or both of the lights on. It's very easy to turn the lights on by accident just by packing something beside them.

I guess the other downside is that they don't clip well to a folding music stand like this one. There isn't a big enough spot for the clip to grab.

Otherwise, the light is good- nice and even coverage.

I use the smaller single light.

It's a little less visable to the crowd and provides enough light to see two pages.

i i have a few led book lights, including mighty brites, and they all work well. i occasionally use them on my pedalboard, or shining down on a setlists on the floor as well.

Thanks for your recommendations. My wife picked one up for me from Borders Books and Music (on a whim she asked if I needed anything and I recalled someone here saying you can pick these up from drugstores. So I said, "if you see a book light pick one up please"). It is the exact same model and I like it a lot.

I found an LED light that's plenty bright enough. It's the Solo made by Aria (or maybe it's Aria Lights - Invalid Link Removed) I use it for my jazz gigs mostly, but sometimes for orchestra work too. The thing doesn't work on batteries, but that means they can put out a lot of light. It's brighter than the Manhasset light I have, and so it's really the only light I use now. They also claim to have one that's twice as bright as mine. I'm not sure why you'd need that, but what the heck. It was a bit pricey, but well worth it.

Back when I used a light to light up the music on my stand, I used a book reading light. Check out your Barnes and Nobles or Borders, etc.
