Please Recommend Me An Amp

What’s the deal with Markbass? People really hate on those. Is it because they’re yellow or do they sound bad?
Not sure why the disdain for Matkbass approaching Fender level hate but anytime I heard a Markbass live in mix always had excellent sound which led me to get their CMD 121P in 2019 and it worked great for me for small/Medium clubs got a 1x12
extension but never needed

Most here whom actually buy and use Markbass seem very happy with purchase

They are worth your consideration

In 2023 wanted to get 'My last Rig' so to Speak and purchased Mesa Subway WD 800 and 1x15 which is
best overall value in all ways I have had the pleasure of buying(owned Svt-810, SWR, Trace Elliot and GK with 4x10's in past)

Please don't listen to this nonsense.
Markbass makes excellent gear and many world class pros use it.
You should audition to see if the tone is for you. I consider MarkBass gear a value that competes with much more expensive gear.
I second this.

I've seen dozens of Markbass amps in many rented rehearsal studios, always working flawlessly.
And I can tell you that they are used and abused in these rehearsal studios, musicians are not very careful when it's not their gear.
So from my experience, Markbass amps are very reliable, they've passed the best real life test.

Also, there's a reason why so many rehearsal studios choose them: they are affordable, reliable, and they offer a great bang for the buck.

Same goes for Fender Rumble by the way — where I live, rehearsal studio roughly buy 50% Markbass and 50% Fender Rumble.

How loud do you need to be? If you are talking combos, do check out the Ampeg RB series. I’ve been happy with my 210, probably could get by with the 115. The DI out is post EQ and volume, so a DI box might be necessary for shows where you’ll get PA support
And the Ampeg RB series isn’t sterile, at least to my ears, from the RB 112 and above.

I heard a guy using two Ampeg RB 115 connected in send/return and that moved a lot of air for an affordable kit. He had to keep his EQ flat otherwise, the walls were literally shaking.

An RB 112 stacked with an RB 115 would be quite enough IMO and give you a lot of versatility depending on the size of the room.

Here’s what I’ve used in the past that I liked:
-SVT AV w/ matching 810
-Mesa BB750 w/ Bergantino NV610
-Ampeg B15R (in the studio)
Combo amps are fine and actually preferred for this application.

I like my RB-108.

Going by what you've posted, your ears seem to lean towards the Ampeg sound/tone.

I'd suggest you start your search by auditioning the Ampeg RB series of combos, starting with the RB 500 2x10 and the RB 200 1x15.

If you decide you'd rather go modular with a head and cab system, you might check into Ampeg's Venture series of heads and cabinets.

If I were gigging, and I'm not trying to compete with 100 watt guitar amps and loud drummers, I'd probably use a 50-200 watt bass anp depending on stage volume needed and speaker cab efficiency. I personally like the Ampeg V-4B, it just sounds right to my ears, but they are pricey new. Along time ago I used a 50 watt Ampeg Rocketbass B-50r 1x12, it sounded pretty good also.

Yep, they just sound right. I have no idea what’s going on to make me connect with them. Is there a baked in EQ curve or something?
