Hes not talking about wide guys, hes talking about thick and chunky, like a Warwick or a Spector. He wants it to feel like a baseball bat. I would say a Spector Performer or Legend would do the trick.

I picked up a NEW Gibson RD Artist off the wall of my local store on the weekend....huuuuuuge fat neck, though not extraordinarily wide. Biggest neck I’ve had in my hand.

The g&l l2000 tribute has a pretty chunky neck and could be found well below your budget if buying second hand.

Yeah, the necks on the Squier 50s P basses are a bit chunky, too - IMO...

My '83 G&L L2K is 1 and 11/16" at the nut, but has a nice flat radius, and is kinda thin, front to back...

My 2007 Corvette 6 string isn't all that thick. But the side curves of this thing is like a right angle. Makes playing a little harder when you have to stretch your fingers.

Make sure you check out the profile. Thickness isn't as important as profile in my opinion. Profile will make you love or hate a bass neck.

Those 5o's reissue P basses have thick necks. I've also found the Warwick 5 and 6 string necks to be chunky.
