Pleasently surprised by CL drummer search.

You are making this up.
Like Christmas, April Fool's Day just seems to come a little earlier every year.... :)

Seriously, as perfect as all three of these seem to be so far, I'll bet that some kind of issue/problem comes up for at least two of the three. With any luck that will be only two of the three, and it will be easy to choose.

P.S. Which is fine, because you only need one.

P.P.S. Unless you're trying to replicate the latest incarnation of King Crimson, in which you'll need all three.

I kind of like the idea of hiring all three..... if for no other reason than I can have a "fire the drummer" hair trigger and still be left with two. :roflmao:

And, yes, I'm aware that SOMETHING will be weird about one or two of them for sure.

I'm hip to KC and several of the players.... including Levin, of course. I'm still curious as to why they're in suits playing prog rock on (what appears to be) a somewhat snooty stage.
I don't presume to know, but my guess is that they are recognizing that, in many ways, this band is more like a symphony orchestra than a rock band. Many of their venue choices are consistent with this, and having seen them myself not long ago I have to agree.

Well, the fact that you write in a literate manner is going to weed out a lot of Weedcore, Southcore, Bikercore, Screamcore and other "highly stylistic" players. They don't want to play that fancy stuff. I've met some good drummers from the mid Piedmont CL who are otherwise hanging with friends and writing strange prog tunes; but they are absolutely interested in gigging stuff that is intriguing. Good luck !

sure there are a lot of nutty people on CL, but you can usually tell from the post, or first correspondence . my best friend is a drummer i met through Craigslist over 10 years ago. since, we’ve played together in various different projects, and hang out all the time in between projects. i just joined another band with a couple of killer players about a month ago through CL. they’ve been auditioning bassist since Nov 2018. both really cool guys. CL isn’t always terrible.

Wish you luck! Can't imagine what you'll learn in "8-10" songs that you wouldn't learn in 2-3, unless you set lists are really *that* varied in styles. If so, kudos!

2-3 songs, some chatter, some jamming, setup & teardown, and that's a good hour. PLenty of time and grief saved in case they're not what they represent, which from CL is sadly often.

Graet things can come from there too though, so again wishing you good luck and good jams.

I've had some bad CL experiences, but wouldn't say they were horror stories. Mostly just bad auditions that were a waste of everyone's time.
My current band started on Craigslist and we've been together over 6 years now. In that time we've put out 3 albums, just signed a little record deal for a few more, and we get to fly about and do festivals now again... pretty grand craigslist story. Of course, 2 of the 4 members came in via other avenues, but myself and the guitar player started the project based on his CL post. I've also made several lifelong friends from bands who I met/joined because of a craigs post.
So congrats man, we've both been lucky with CL and I hope one of these guys pans out for you.
