Plus one bird.

We had a pair of PeachFaced Lovebirds that my dad would let out of their cage after he had turned off the fans and closed the windows. One day, one of the pair figured out how to get out of his cage while the ceiling fan was on. He flew upwards toward his favorite perch. There was a double thump noise and we basically were down to one lovebird.

She bonded with me. She had learned not to perch on the ceiling fan, so I could have her on my shoulder or collar even when the fan was on. She would scratch her head in my beard. It was very cute.

Love birds are extremely affectionate... especially female birds in general, Male's are affectionate but, enjoy alone time and exploration.

We (my parents) had named the pair Peach and Keen. Keen was the one who flew into the ceiling fan. Peach was the one who liked to live on my collar and scratch her head with my beard. I miss her.

A friend and co-worker had a pet crow that he taught to say a few words. Edgar could say 'Nevermore' and 'Birds can't talk' He was a surprisingly smart bird. I didn't know crowa could talk until Edgar.

I read that Thomas Jefferson had a mockingbird as a pet. I would totally dig that.

We rescued a Cockateil last summer, his name's Hurley...Cool pet with a ton of personality. I never thought I'd like a bird as a pet but he's really pretty cool. The previous owners had completely neglected the bird. They stuck him a closed room on the other side of the house so he got little to no human interaction for a long time.

He has become pretty bitter towards people now. He bites the crap out of anyone except my fiance when you try to take him out of his cage. Once he's out he's cool though...I think it's a territorial thing. We got him one of those cages with the perch on top and he loves sitting up there. Seems like he's becoming friendlier the more we work with him.

Funny thing about birds is they need a lot of attention, I never would've guessed that until owning one.

yeah, it can be retrained, and some birds if left with no interaction or toys to distract their mind can become quite insane....

Birds are quite odd, a lot of fun... Hell my bird has nightmares sometimes.
