We normally rehearse together on Mondays at the drummer's place, but for some reason (maybe to give her neighbors a break :D or because there's a bigger PA there) our guitar player arranged for us to use a friend's band's shared space at Seattle's subterranean iconic CryBaby Studios.

Dunno if we'l be going back there next Monday as well, but at my use was this really really nice sounding Plush all tube head and fridge sized 2×15 :bassist:

From the entryway i thought i was looking at a Kustom, as that's the only other '70s car interior wrap' on an amp that I've ever seen.

Anyway, it had a nice deep creamy punch that could probably rearrange your innards in the hands of a sadistic bass player, but i kept the volume moderate.

Sure i could do a search on the brand, here or on the net at large, but i just wanted an excuse to post pictures of it, and see if any current TBers have any experience with or knowledge of this rad piece of equipment??

We have an obscure shop/recording studio here in town.
They have a lot of older gear in the for sale area. Kustom, Big old Fender Bandmasters, guitars, bass, PA stuff, drums, racks full of rack gear, whatever. Saw a couple of old Leslie units in there one time. Just a bunch of cool old stuff.
It's a music store but has a kind of a museum/storage room/pawnshop vibe as well.

I was in eyeballing a nice old tuck & roll Kustom amp one day.
drool all over those when I was just a teen.
The owner came by and mentioned that he had a Plush that they use in the studio.
It is a tube amp (Kustom are SS) and he liked the sound a whole lot better.
So yeah! You're not from outer space on this. They do exist.:smug:

Yea, the tone was BOSS! (& not the brand.)

I didn't get to plug into the 'vibrato' jacks, nor tinker with the built in reverb. Hopefully we'll be using that space again, tho

I'm a fan :bassist::hyper:

And i like @S-Bigbottom's idear about using it as a nap accessory during breaks

I’ve got one of those rigs, plus an ‘Earth’ PA head(the company changed its name under mysterious circumstances). It’s basically a Fender Dual Showman in Kustom drag. Always sounded good to me for what it is, but a better guitar rig than bass(the cab, while being solid plywood, is a bit shallow). The head through one of my old Sunn cabs has the old school thump.

Man, that looks like my old plush head. Mine had the exact same imperfections in the top/front of the tuck & roll. Ask the owner if they bought it on ebay about 10 or 15 years ago and had it shipped from Phoenix.

If so, I bought that head from a little pawn shop in Showlow AZ. for like $125 back in the 90's. I was told some semi-famous guitarist had pawned it and never returned, but I cant remember who.

I had it serviced and had it hanging around my studio for quite awhile, but I finally sold it off because my guitarist always seemed to prefer playing my Fender amps instead.

I tried it out a few times with bass & bass cabs, but my lower register notes always got flabby at the volume levels my old bands used to play at.

Here's the only pic of it I could find:

I went to Rhode Island abut 25 years ago to play a gig with some family members.
There was a black Plush w/2x15 at the rehearsal space.
I too thought it was a Kustom until I saw the tubes in the back.
Very nice bass tone and was plenty loud for a rehearsal with the effecient cabinet.
Ironically I bought a Kustom 100 in turquise a few years later for $35.
Both were very nice but my memory is the Plush was sweeter.

I scored one a few years back, and played around modding it into a Tweed Twin circuit. I was amazed to find that the original circuit board was... a board. A piece of rough-sawn wooden lath board, like a 1" X 2". I'm surprised these didn't go up in flames more often. Decent transformers, at least.

My first “fridge” was a Plush with a 3x 15 cab. It was the first bass amp I remember that really overdrived beautifully. They weren’t cheap knockoffs of Kustom at all. I believe that they were designed by Saul Marantz and built in New York. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy some Plush gear but I’ve run out of room for anymore amps !
