Pod Go sounds good for Bass but...

... I can't quite get it to sound as good as my Fender Rumble Studio amp, nor my Tech21 Bass Flyrig pedal, nor one of the Bass Amp sims in Garageband running on my iPad. In fact, the amp sims in Garageband sound the best of all and I'd switch to it if i were not for reliability issues.

Does anyone have any sources for good patches for Pod Go for bass? For Worship style.
Seems like Line6 is very much focused on elec guitar and less so on bass, which is a shame because Pod Go has great features and programmability.

What do you not like? What are you using as a monitor? It can most definitely sound as good, but there's million reasons why it might not.

Before you go crazy with effects try getting the amp/cab blocks set to your liking. I highly suggest trying the Jazz Rivet 2x12 cab. For the cab block adjust the low frequency cutoff to be in the 30hz area and try out a ribbon microphone for much low end. The bass cabs sound ok but they are all a bit too heavily voiced for my liking.

Link Removed. His 8x10 cabinet “simulator” using the 3 band eq is brilliant and sounds better than the pre loaded cab blocks. You could disable the cab block and give this a shot in your signal chain. Many of the other presets he has gifted us are awesome as well.

Good luck and have fun. It is a crazy versatile tool, but it’s versatility can lead to some less than great bass tones. They do exist in there but you have to find them yourself as the presets are pretty extreme.

I have run the audio through my audio interface Motu M4 + KRK Rokit 5 speaker + Sub. So comparison between those is on the same setup. I guess the tones without any deep tweaking for me in order of preference is iPad Garageband > Tech21 Bass Flyrig > Fender Rumble Studio (only through audio interface) > Pod Go Patches.

Thanks for the tips! Will try it out. Also, that's a really useful link. I am also found this link to parse the Helix patch and look at the settings.

Just have to say that if you approach it like you would a new amp set up, then spend a bit of time dialling in a sound(s) that you like, then you can't go wrong. Play with the cab settings too, try different mics/cabs/etc. Then when you're happy with the core sounds, add effects as required.

Also, how are you amplifying the POD Go? Into an amp/cab, into the PA, or into In Ears / FRFR?

If you're using an amp, then I would suggest that you plug straight into the amp's Effects Return so you bypass the amp's preamp. If you're using In Ears / FRFR / PA, then no problem. Sort your sound out, and play.

Thoroughly loving the sounds I'm getting from my POD Go since I got it.

I think most people that have issues with the Helix and Pod Go don't understand the cab blocks. That is simply the single most important part of your entire signal chain.

I typically use the SVT cab with either the R121 or 160 mic. Those mics have a much more even frequency response than a typical dynamic. Some of the guitar cabs sound great also.

Same here, I get better tone playing my Ampeg BA108 with headphones than the PodGo. My impression is that it does a good job for overdriven sounds, but a classic clean bass sound is just super dry with all the combinations of amps and cabs featured in the PodGo. I even spent money to purchase some bass IRs, not even worth it
