I had some people ask me on YouTube to make a tutorial or to share my patches for my POD HD Bass tones, so after like a year I finally got around to it.

Tutorial Video on YouTube

And here's links to my tone patches on CustomTone

There's also links to the tones in the Video Description that are hosted on my website, if for whatever reason CustomTone is being weird.

This is a great tutorial! It makes for a really big and angry bass sound. But I had a few problems with this and I was wondering if you could give a few tips. First of all the Line 6 Drive used, with my bass even with the lowest drive knob positions seemed to be always on and driving. So it didn't have have that nice barely breaking up sound but had a full on overdrive or no overdrive. (My bass has an active preamp and I just had new pickups installed as well, could it be because I have the pickups too close to the strings, the bass is a lot louder when compared to the previous pickups).

Second, live sound. Playing with these settings with a drummer it sounds nice and mean, but when adding a guitarist and vocals it gets really boomy and all the cool sounding higher frequencies get lost and only the low end boom stays. Is that related to how the bass cabinet sounds? It got a lot better when I disabled the post EQ, but it still sounds kinda muddy.

My rig:

Ibanez SR505 (Glockenklang 3 band preamp, Carvin neck pickup + ND3-BC5 Bridge pickup)
pod hd500x floor unit
Behringer BX3000T amp (flat eq, shape at 11, changing that soon for a crown power amp)
GK NEO212
