Am I more than my thoughts and dreams?
Actions matter too, it seems.
Would I be happier with the answer?
Or would it eat at me like a cancer.
Living present, in the moment, at one
being eternally open to what comes
Has sufficed for me, been good advice to me
But just lately, as I've aged
And my health has turned a page
I find the questions of my youth whispering quietly
I'm not looking for praise
Or absolution from all of my yesterdays
It's just introspection, self reflection
I am the artist of my life
Held the brush, sometimes too tight
Painted over what wasn't right
Or was I hiding it from sight?
In the end, I am I
No more, no less
I could lie
And say I did my best
What's the point?
I am I
