Political Avatars

If I remember correctly - the argument put forward, was that it was "political discussion" that was banned and the inevitable acrimony that follows..?

I think that an avatar could be banned as "offensive" - but you can't have a "discussion" with avatars...:p

I'd like a GREAT BIG HUGE one of these as my avatar-->

why are people so seemingly overly sensitive to anything these days?
That must be a good sign...when you're not struggling, pinching pennies to feed your family, living on the street, worrying about your health, then you can worry about avatars..
Not directed at anyone here in particular, just thinking out loud.

utilizing a mug shot of a politician doesn't bother me, in that in and of itself it's not entirely political. where I believe it crosses the line is when the graphic also contains additional graphics/text that highlight who that politician is

Example 1: several people have avatar images of Palin or Obama. most are just head shots. I have no prob with these

Example 2: a couple people have avatar images that also include graphics/text that are readily recognized as part of a politician's campaign propaganda. I find this to be objectionable in the spirit of the TB political discussion ban

just my two Indian Rupees,
