Twenty years ago,I had a Hartke 3500 and an SWR 4/10 Cab. After that I bought several amps and cabs. Looking back that Hartke was just great. With the SWR it sounded awesome. MIK back then I believe.

I'd say Ampeg, because I think they have a great choice of different amps and cabs for all different price ranges. Mesa already looses because it's way too exclusive with it's pricing and such. Great amps, but not a great manufacturer for the general masses. Ampeg has the heritage, great tones, great varity and everybody and their dog know how they work.

Dunno,
I really like my mesa. I like the GKs that I’ve played through too. Both my SWRs are pretty cool as well. My carvin does the job.
I’ve heard others make peavy sound good. I haven’t had any experience with any of the others on the list or that have been mentioned so to say that something is the BEST is just silly.

Yeah I know, popularity contest? And an Ampeg B15 is a far cry from their 1x10 solid state practice amp. But anyways……

What I really wonder is, does a particular brand have a signature sound? Do they all sound the same if you tweak the eq just right? In that case just go with your preferred features and don’t worry about the tone?
As an "Other", I would put Eich Amplification.
