Yeah I know, popularity contest? And an Ampeg B15 is a far cry from their 1x10 solid state practice amp. But anyways……

What I really wonder is, does a particular brand have a signature sound? Do they all sound the same if you tweak the eq just right? In that case just go with your preferred features and don’t worry about the tone?

Speaking of amps, I could kick myself. I've been eyeing an ELF 1x8 for low volume practice.

I saw a brand new (open box) one on Reverb for $320. When I asked why it was priced so low being brand new, the seller replied that the price was adjusted to $520. Doh!

Popularity poll, for sure.

In answer to your question, I voted Mesa. Specifically, the Subway lineup. Each head has its own sound, some overlap, but each has a unique voice and there is a range of features that differ from model to model. These amps were designed with real world input from gigging bassists of all skill levels and performance needs. They all offer something different. And they offer a range of cabs that can be combined, mixed, and matched for further variations. Pricey, yes, but boy do they deliver! You definitely get your money's worth.
