Double Bass Poll: Do you use a high-pass filter?

It's not one of mine. The Series 2 is discontinued, but here's a pic of the insides of a 2M, which is the same circuit in a metal box.

With that said, I've published my schematics and encouraged people to build their own. A number of people have reported doing so. It's not a complicated circuit, but the JFETs are hard to find. There's also a published layout for so called "tag board," but I've never verified it:

If HPF is baked-in or an amp just sounds good without it, that's good enough for me.
Unfortunately that seldom seems to be the case for me with DB.
So, I keep using my trusty little HPF-Pre. (I hate complicating my workflow with extra cables & devices. But for me the HPF-Pre has been worth it.)

I use a Broughton HPLP filter and RFE pedals, but just ordered the Empress Bass Para EQ specifically for upright.

True but Euphonic Audio is only a used amplifier. The Genzler Gollihur Bass Array has all the bells and whistles if the power output is adequate for your needs, Mesa has really got it and so does Bergantino, provided you’re only using pickups. The GR Bass AT Acoustic has everything sans the HPF. So there just isn’t a one size fits all out there anymore. There never were that many in the first place. Just my take however

I recently started using the Radial PZ-DI. I set the impedance to 10Mohm and adjust the HPF subjectively per venue (acoustic environment). I use a David Gage Lifeline pickup and go directly into a PA.

I’ve heard the Empresses Para EQ in action. It’s a very powerful box, maybe to powerful for me. If you can connect it to a powered speaker.
with a HPF in the loop then you’re good I’ve ha d it connected to the Grace Felix and that’s way to much

Haven't needed an HPF in quite awhile with my current simple live setup. Just a realist into a combo amp. If i am hearing too much low end in the room i simply cut bass via the amp EQ. If for some reason i need to get my signal into a PA for a gig, they can HPF on the board.

I use a HPF regularly. IMO there should be one built into every amp. So useful for quickly solving problems. I play weekly in a small room which sounds different all the time. Sometimes a nasty frequency will resonate on a different note. much more useful to have the HPF than an eq with a fixed point.

There’s something about the way that the RedEye Twin processes the signal that not only cleans up my pickups sound but it also seems to eliminate the need for a HPF.
