Poll: Do you use your own DI live?

Do you use your own personal DI or use what's provided?

In the places I play, I have to go with whatever the house got. Tentative to do otherwise failed. Usually the sound guy has problems dealing with "alien equipment".

In the place I play most of the times, I even have to use their supplied bass rig. Fortunately the head is very similar to mine, but I hate the cabs.

I try to mic whenever possible and ditch the DI altogether. However, I'm not all that picky about DI's anymore since I got a VT pedal. I've figured out a way to make the VT sound very similar to a mic'ed cab, so if they insist on DI'ing me, I just run the VT and fool them into making it sound like a mic'ed cab.

this is interesting--so, with the VTbass, you're pretty pleased no matter the DI? (when you can't mic the cab, that is)

I said I bring mine and use it, since my DI pretty much is my rig: I use a Line6 Bass POD xt Live, which doubles as my tuner, volume pedal, effects, amp/preamp/cab/mic (when I'm running direct), etc.

When I'm not running direct (gigs without a PA), I use either my Markbass LMII + Schroeder 1210L, or my Line6 Bass POD xt Live + Crown K2 + Schroeder 21012L.
