Poll | How many TBers don't actively play bass?

On another thread, there was an interesting comment from a TBer who said he hasn't picked up a bass in 3 years. Yet he was on TalkBass... talking about bass.

It got me curious...
How many of you who frequent this site don't actively play bass? Feel free to elaborate.

I gig regularly, but mainly here to fine tune my stand-up comedy routine... some might say the two are intertwined.

I gig regularly, and I've got a lot of experience with the technical aspects of audio gear. All the people I know in real life understand that, and ask me for advice and help on those topics. I come here so people that don't know me can tell me how little I know.

Not currently gigging, but the occasional jam now and hoping to get back out properly in a couple of years when I quit the day job and free up my time.
I'm aware of several TBers who've not played in many years but just enjoy the vibe here which is fantastic

Was at an occasion today with loads od okd faces..and a fair few i didn't know, and one bass player said he was glad to be asked to do a new band as he hadn't played for ages.
I cant think of a situation where it would work if he literally hadn't picked up the bass for a while..and I cant think why the band thought that would be a good idea either...
Theres a big gathering looming with all these faces, so maybe he'll play...

I gig frequently but am a dinosaur so I plug and play as I did as a beginner and judge my basses and amps on that basis, ie what do they bring to the table.

Have less than zero interest in any pedals (except an offline tuner) attachments or ancillary items whatsoever. None of my mentors, who were the pioneers of electric bass had them, as they mostly weren't invented yet and I am only focused on the bass and how the amp compliments the bass and its pick ups.

I also learned to listen very carefully to speaker cabinets as I believe they are the secret sauce with any amplifier that sounds good or interesting.

no longer gigging. I have a jam room with a bass amp (ampeg fridge), drum kit, and guitar setup. Mostly I play drums while my girlfriend plays guitar and sings. We are both very amateur and do not play out. I played bass in my last gigging band for 10+ years and now I just play for fun. I got into guitar pretty hard for about 5 years but am no longer really pushing myself with that either, just playing the stuff I know and jamming. I just have one bass (Fender P-bass), an acoustic guitar, and 2 electrics.

When I don’t play bass for more than 5 days in a row, I really don’t feel great so no choice for me.
I used to travel a lot for business and typically, when I was coming back home on Friday, I was playing several hours in a row in the evening to kind of recover from the time I didn’t practice.
Kind of an addiction/disease.

I gig regularly. Playing at Saginaw Vineyards tomorrow, 6-9. A great, if small venue. We've been averaging 1-2 gigs a month for the last couple years.

I do not take it for granted. 2020 sucked...

I gigged from the late sixties until about a dozen years ago. Now, although I'm retired and my wife and I spend our time RVing and spoiling grandchildren, I still practice and play with others when I have a chance. But, as I am writing this, I have no interest in gigging several times per week as I used to.

Came here for the comedic responses, had to double check that this wasn’t the humor forum. Love to read some of the silly “expert” responses in other threads. Gig nearly every weekend and sometimes twice a weekend.

Need another choice or change 'Yes, but I only play at home (or I record at home)'. I do a poopie load of recording, not just fooling around.

I took a break for a few years. Now I'm teaching a pal to play guitar and we get together (plus my wife on drums) and jam a bit every Sunday. We might even play for some friends at some point, but nothing too serious. Otherwise, I'm mostly interested in keys these days.

Still, I like to hang here. It's a good crowd, and there's lots of general music talk worth having.

I played in different churches for 15 years and I just play at home now. Most churches want younger musicians for the newer CCM and I am too old .

Play live 50-60 times a year I’d say… definitely not as much as some

Every three weeks at church plus other activities.
I played at a rehab this past Tuesday night. Usually once a month at that location. It's a blast!
Used to play guitar more but I don't have a much free time as I used to. Now I just play bass.
