Just because a person hasn't been active doesn't mean their opinion and experience isn't valid.

I'm not sure if that was what you were insinuating, but it sounded like a plausible stance. (I've met others who think that way, at least.)

I still play a bit every other day or so at home for my own enjoyment when my neighbor sounds like they aren't home. I got too old to deal with band drama.

Maybe if the right bunch of old codgers come along I'll step out again, but I'm not holding my breath.

I still play at least weekly and occasionally more. I’m over club gigs and loud venues, but a nice coffee house or restaurant is pretty cool.

I think the sound advice is you do you, but if I had to choose between not playing and not visiting/reading the forum, I’d log out immediately.

I chose Yes, gig occasionally jam with friends. I was in two bands gigging regularly until last October, and Moved to Oregon. Now that we're settled in, I'm now looking for a new project. The area I now live has a lot less people than were I was living, so just by default, the options a little limited. But I'm hopeful.

It’s a public forum on the Internet. You don’t have to prove you actively play bass to join the discussion. Folks who don’t play bass can still have opinions and an appreciation for the instrument that they want to share with everyone else. Big deal if somebody plays or doesn’t.
OP here. Where'd this come from? I was just curious. I never mentioned needing to prove anything to be here.

I'm a mere 27 years young, and I've been playing for 11 years now but I'm reaching this WEIRD place for me. I somewhat regularly play at church, and it's been a huge hobby for me. BUT, especially this past month, I've been feeling less inclined to pick any of my basses up and the few times I have felt a bit more chore-like than fun. I'm SERIOUSLY considering just hanging them all up for just a while until the mood (hopefully) calls me back to it! We'll see! Anyone else here go through similar strains?

I gig regularly, and I've got a lot of experience with the technical aspects of audio gear. All the people I know in real life understand that, and ask me for advice and help on those topics. I come here so people that don't know me can tell me how little I know.
I do enjoy reading your responses to those particular threads… they’re always educational and often entertaining, I usually chuckle, learn something new and just shake my head. :)
