Polyurethane repair

Has anybody had experience repairing a chip in a polyurethane finish? Does anybody know of a good shop for this?

I just had my G&L L-2000, Honey finish, bird's-eye maple fretboard shipped to me and FedEx CRUSHED the box badly enough to CRACK the polyurethane on the body!

That is a LOT of impact. I have a damage claim pending with FedEx - they have asked for me to get an estimate on repairing the damage.

Since Honey is a premium finish (and the maple fretboard also an upgrade) I'm looking to make certain that FedEx pays to put this bass back into PERFECT SHOWROOM condition!

Probably getting another complete body will be easier. You're looking at a complete refin on a body.

Fed Ex did that to my L2.5K as well, and there's no way to make it look factory fresh w/o a complete refinish or a new body.

On the other hand, the built in mojo makes me not so worried about other dings she may incur.

Chips can be repaired fairly easily. A crack in the finish is a different matter. A picture would be helpful as would a detailed description of the location and size of the damage.

If it's a crack, it's just not the paint that has the crack. Most likely the body as well.
Time to get a new body. Don't settle for less.
