. . . . What Bass would you NOT buy if you wanted to focus on Slap/funk style music?
I would say that just about any bass that has a floating bridge - and there are a bunch of them besides Hofner Beatle Basses - would be a bad choice for slapping. Not so much for the sound, as for the prospect of chasing the pieces of your bridge around the stage when it comes off. Unless, of course, you glue it onto the bass... Personally, I wouldn't even try to slap on this thing... just playing it too hard - normally - is fraught with peril. Slapping on it would be a disaster...And also, what's the worst bass for horrorcore or post-cuddlecore?
Really now?what was said above plus a ricky, to much mid range on those to get a good slap tone out of
