could be your rosin, could be you need a rehair... could be a number of things. a fresh cake of pops is the cheapest and easiest thing to experiment with though. even if you decide you need a rehair, you'll use the rosin eventually.
Order a fresh cake from bassrosin.com and keep it (still in the red container) in a sealed ziplock bag with a drip or two of water. I had a cake of Pops that kept fresh (i.e. still see through and easily maleable, non powdery) for a good 2 1/2 months using this method. Also, use that fresh Pops very sparingly because fresh Pops is pretty grippy. And yes, could also help to get a rehair.
Until your new cake of rosin comes in, you can always try to "refurb" the old cake with 10 seconds in a microwave. Not a second more, or you'll have a big mess, and watch it in case you have a high-powered microwave that may get the job done with a second or two less. Not the best solution, but it will get you by until the new cake arrives.
I have a fresh cake delivered automatically from the bass rosin store every other month. For me, the price is low enough where it's crazy not to have fresh Pops all of the time.
I take the wrapper off and keep it nekid in the container. Never gets gnarled up in the paper.
