Popular albums that you don't like?

Nu Metal or Emo. It's people bitching into a mic, who have so little to offer the musical world that they have to create a genre to market themselves. "But Emo is so..., heartfelt, thought provoking, and emotional!" DUH! Most, if not all songs are. That's why we write them. Nu? Ok, get a dictionary, and get back to me.
Yeah, That's right, no Rage, no System, no Linkin Park, no Creed. Those bands make me seriously wonder about the use of the term "music"

Personal preference. Feel free to disagree, and agure your point. Not that it'll get us anywhere, though.

Wow. I couldn't, and didn't, put it better myself. This is signature-worthy material.

i hate creed... if i ever see their guitarist or 'with aggs wide opahn' on the street im gonna kick him square in the nuts. their guitarist is so damn arrogant its not funny.

i also hate how every song of theirs is in the key of D of some sort, with this guy whining about god or praising god... i really dont understand how they are so popular.

I never got into Floyd, Beatles, Stones, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Kiss, SOAD, Limp Bizkit, Beastie Boys or KoRn.

I hated "Frampton Comes Alive". The funny thing about that album is, he sold over 5 million copies, but you can't find ONE person to admit that they have it! :D

Ive got it on record and CD :D

About Frampton...it's the same with N*Sync...no girl I have ever met admits to having it...

I've noticed this with a lot of other things, for ex. Kenny G. And what about Disco? Or Cats? These seem to be million sellers, but no one I know likes them, and I've polled a diverse number of people. I thinks its a conspiracy.....I'm doing my senior project on it!

As for disco, I don't like any disco albums, by ANYONE. Be they KISS or BeeGees. But when I listen to some of my Techno CDs, like Daft Punk, which remix songs using disco beats/basslines, I really enjoy them. Its like disco has some wrench in the works and its magically fixed! I guess it has something to do with the fact that the beats are infectious.......but the fashion isn't so much.

I never got into Aerosmith, Van Halen, Springsteen...

I like some Floyd, but only their earliest stuff.

I only like Ten, by Pearl Jam, never liked anything else they did.

Korn, blah. Limp biskit, Blah. Creed makes me wanna barf.

I lost interest in Rage... after Eveil empire, when everything they did sounded the same.

Never picked up on Rush.

I'd rather stick an icepick in my ear than listen to Dave Matthews Band.

Never got into No Doubt.

system of a down is ok. But I find myself skipping half a dozen songs at a time, or stopping it halfway through.

I'm sure there are hundreds more I could list.

Same here. I dont really like the majority of 'Dave' fans either. They always refer to the WHOLE band as 'Dave'. Makes me angry...

For some reason, this brought to mind the Grateful Dead and their fans. I must have missed the boat on these bands that tour endlessly and have a cult following ala the Dead, like Dave Matthews, Phish, etc. Nothing against the Deadheads, most I've encountered are pretty cool people. I just don't understand the mentality of following a band around the country.

The Grateful Dead's studio work was pretty unspectacular, and I've heard plenty of the bootleg live recordings, and they do nothing for me. Is it because I've never done acid? Someone please tell me what I'm missing here, I just don't feel the vibe or something.

Relman: It's not the album itself, it's that millions have been sold, but no one admits to having it. You and Mike N are the first 2 people I've met that admits to owning it.
DMB is the same to me as Rage and Jamiroquai. They started out brilliantly, and quickly hit bottom.... and started digging!:D Song wise, that is!

I really like Rage. The other bands like limp bizkit and korn just suck. System of a down have yet to prove themselves. I like some of their old stuff, but everything I've heard off Toxicity was annoying nu-metal trash.

i don't mean popular as in top 40, i mean popular as in everybody says "this album is so great!"

the reason i ask is because i listened to "moving pictures" by rush the other day, and i couldn't stand it. yyz, tom sawyer, red barchetta, all these songs i've heard people rave about, and i just didn't get it. the weird thing is, i really like 2112.

I was surprised, when I first started getting on TB, how many people seem to like Rush, but everybody I knew in the UK hated them and I must say I have never heard anything by them that I liked, or even found less than irritating - as in "turn that off now!"

I think there was poor timing in the UK, as Rush just started to get big at the same time as Punk really took off in England and so everybody was going on about how we needed to get back to fast, short songs with energy and simplicity! Rush epitomised everything the Punk movement in the UK was fighting against!

I know how you feel.I dont like emo much but The Get Up Kids are just too catchy and awesome for me not to like.System of a down try to act so political but dont have much knowledge on their topics.Linkin Park and Creed, very annoying. But Rage?C'mon everyone in their band is talented, even the bass player!I wouldnt call them nu-metal because they've been around since the eraly 90's,maybe even earlier. They write smart lyrics about politics that prove some good points.

Staind is my number 1 hated band.Everytime i hear them i just wanna smash in my radio!Every song is about depression. It gets old REAL FAST.

there is way too much hate on this thread and i find it pretty sad... can't anyone say they don't care for something without saying they hate it and spitting on it? damn

that said, i never understood The Miseducation of Lauren Hill.... a few years ago people were calling her a genius and some kind of musical savior but i never really "got" it
