Popular albums that you don't like?

errr i hate most of these so caled "great" nu metal albums
i like system of a down..keep in mind im 17....
i like mostly 80s metal.. and blues. i listen to everything from Van halen to older metallica (pre black album) to Stevie Ray Vaughan to BB KING to Motorhead and back.... =X
but i dont like Red Hot Chili peppers that much..... I just cant get into em..:mad:
anyway.. i dont dig much emo....
i like a lil punk though once n a while....

Rage against the Machine and System of a Down have nothing to do with Limp Bizkit and Korn. Rage and Sys play with a message of anti-facism and all other political problems plaguing society. Meanwhile Bizkit plays to make money and I'm not sure about Korn.

Oh, and I dislike the band called the Strokes. Saw them on MTV and I thought "70s called, they want their music back".

Most popular stuff doesn't really appeal to me anyway. Underground (skilled) punk and ska is what I listen to.

I'm sorry I dissed System but thier just not my style, I guess. I'll agree they are much, much better than "Bisket" and "Corn" but they have changed alot and I'm just puzzled with why they changed so much. They remind me of a MTV band now; "And now your number one video, that were only gonna play 1 minute of, because we have to get back to Britney and Justin, Toxicity by System."

HAHAhhaah. Freud was a butt dart champion, didnt you know?

APouncer, im perfectly happy with my sexuality and im not homophobic, i have some good friends who are gay and some i didnt even know it until others said ' watch out, he is gay' it really dont bother me.

i seem to be getting into more and more convos about that stuff on TB and the mods dont like it.

i think the terms 'gay' and 'fudge packer' are just thrown around too much, people use it nowdays to describe everything. i spose that shows that we all know about it and understand it, some people just seem to speak before they think thats all.

back onto the real topic, music.....and keep it like that.

thats all i have to say for the moment.

Many people say St. Pepper or White album is THE seminal Beatles work, but I'm a far bigger fan of Revolver the later stuff, like "Get Back" or "Let It Be".

Also, I just DO NOT get the big fuss over Nirvana's Nevermind. I've heard it several times and I just don't consider it special.

Several people on this board recommend Primus and Rancid, and while the bass playing is fine, the music as a whole doesn't appeal to me.

Dave Matthews Band. I know they're talented, and I do like some of their songs, but only in small doses. As a college student, I'll end up hearing them whether I like it or not.

Oh, and HeavyDuty, even though I like Jaco, you're not alone on the Chris Kattan thing. I don't think of Jaco when I see Chris Kattan on TV, but JP's picture on the front of his debut solo album looks eerily like Chris Kattan.

You have described the unimaginable horror that was my freshman year. I lived next to an *ahem* Sweet Sister of Kappa Alpha Theta *wheeze* who was blasting "Dave" (always the first name with that crowd) or the Indigo Girls at all times.

This was back when I was first learning to slap, though, so I got back at her by pounding the bejeezus out of my old MIM J, when I wasn't blasting King Crimson or Metallica. It worked pretty well.

I feel kinda bad for the other members of that band. But I guess that's what you'd expect with a band name like that.

All of Metallica's albums, as well as most prog rock and metal albums I have trouble listening to. Occasionally I'll be able to sit through one, but I'd never be able to buy one. They're just not......well.....weird enough for me. I suppose listening to punk rock so much as dulled my sense of musical prowess, not to mention my attention span.
But lately I've been getting into more and more obscure, dissonant, and "odd" music (i.e., Fugazi, Lungfish, ATDI, Angry Samoans, Descendents), and pop records just seem so....blah. sort of like when you're a vegetarian for a long time, then come back to eat meat and it gives you indigestion.

I can't really listen to Metallica anymore, either. It defined me from the time I was 13 until I started getting seriously into Rush two years later...and 13-15 aren't exactly years anyone wants to remember.

I don't think it was actually sold at record stores. I believe it was issued to every high school student in the US with their textbooks in 1979. Or something.

Oh yeah, another huge album I can't stand is Pearl Jam "Ten". Never bought into that hype.

I do not like:

Nu Metal or Emo. It's people bitching into a mic, who have so little to offer the musical world that they have to create a genre to market themselves. "But Emo is so..., heartfelt, thought provoking, and emotional!" DUH! Most, if not all songs are. That's why we write them. Nu? Ok, get a dictionary, and get back to me.
Yeah, That's right, no Rage, no System, no Linkin Park, no Creed. Those bands make me seriously wonder about the use of the term "music"

Personal preference. Feel free to disagree, and agure your point. Not that it'll get us anywhere, though.
