Popular basses you hate??

It's my instrument, why would I hate it. However, I'm not a big fan of modern-look basses. That's why I sold my only Yamaha. I only prefer basses with Precision and Jazz design with pickguards, the classic big headstock with rounded edge and gigantic tuning machines. If I will be given between an expensive modern-designed bass like Warwick and a cheaper MIJ Fender, I'll choose the later. Well, that's just me:p

This thread should be closed. All this hatebass talk is good for no one.:hiding:

We could move on to "popular bass PLAYERS you hate". That should REALLY bug people. Just to be PC though, we could call it "Bass Players Whose Work You Find Exceedingly Uninspiring"
Although I wouldn't necessarily concur, Gene Simmons would probably top the list. People have always had a strong negative reaction to him...

I aint saying anyones basses are ****, its all a matter of taste. I'm just interested to see what massively popular basses you dislike!

No, you're hoping you can bash stuff you don't like, hope they like what you like, etc. Misery loves company.

Threads like these are 100% worthless because nothing useful ever comes ouf of them and they all end up complaining about the same stuff.

"Bongos are ugly." Seriously, is this high school?! Are you going to buy a $200 pair of jeans to fit in?! They're very comfortable, especially compared to a 12lb+ Stingray.

"I hate them fancy basses, with all them fancy 'tronics, fancy pants woods, and too many strings (however, I'd play 'em if I had the money, but I'll never admit that [for now I will hate them!]). Leo got it right back in the 1950's."

Leo was always about mass production, much like Henry Ford. Innovation, not so much. That's someone else's deal and they can use 'em later if it will sell more units. Every bass was designed for some specific finite purposes. Like bicycles, there are several big groups and many sub groups. None can do it all and some are built/designed better than others. Sorry.

People end up hating on boutique basses because 1. they can't afford 'em and are jealous and/or 2. they don't believe things should change. End of story.

+10000

I don't care one way or another if you hate anything I own, I just want to know why this thread exists? There's no purpose to it except to get everyone else riled up. This should be locked, period.

Title says it all. Is there any immensely popular basses that for one reason or another?

For me its Rickenbachers!

Rickenbachers? Never heard of 'em. If you mean Rickenbackers, you may want to check your spelling. In fact if you've been playing Rickenbachers, that may explain a lot. You need to get out there and try the real thing.
