"Pornographic" Candy Wrappers In The U.K. Draw Outrage

It's outrageously outrageous. [Mr. Lime is quite the playa]:

Outrage over sexy Haribo sweet wrapper
Thursday, August 27, 2009

A dad has criticised a sweet firm over characters on wrappers who look like they are having sex.

Simon Simpkins, a dad of two, said he was shocked at the "pornographic" poses when he bought Haribo's MAOAM sweets for his children.

Mr Simpkins of Pontefract, West Yorkshire, told The Sun: "The lemon and lime are locked in what appears to be a carnal encounter.

"The lime, who I assume to be the gentleman in this coupling, has a particularly lurid expression on his face.

"I demanded to see the shop manager and, during a heated exchange, my wife became quite distressed and had to sit down in the car park."

But Haribo hit back telling the newspaper the "fun" packaging was introduced in Germany in 2002.

It added: "The jovial MAOAM man is very popular with fans, both young and old."

Oh wait, it's a German candy. That explains it. :hiding:

Reminds me of a much tamer incident in the US of a beverage can that had a graphic of a Japanese-style cartoon girl in a micro-miniskirt with a little triangle of her panties showing. I can't find any pics of it on Google, but it was not any "more graphic" than any product with a picture of a woman in a bikini. Anyway some irate family religious group threatened them with lawsuits, and the company changed their logo so the skirt covered the offending little white triangle.

This is stupid. Kids aren't going to look at those wrappers and see sex.

A lot of them would know something was wrong. I'm a nanny, and a big thing is making sure everyone knows that no one touches anyone else's privates, and that lime is going at it big-time.

It doesn't look "pornographic" to me at all. I suppose if you're a teenager, it would provide hours of laughs...but I just don't see it.

Funny one:

There was a game here called "Mr. Bucket" Kids would scoop up balls and try to put them in the bucket or something like that.
I think the jingle went something like:

"Mr. Bucket, drop your balls in my mouth"

It was "Mr. Bucket - balls pop out of my mouth"

I always got a chuckle out of that.

Fruit does not have genitals.

Pfft, maybe YOUR fruit doesn't....

It's a humanized cartoon image- children very often identify them as something very close to real. Besides, as a parent, you want to keep that stuff away from your kids even if they don't understand it. And it's certainly pretty blatant :p

It's the hanging tongue and motion lines that make it so very dirty .. if they removed those, all would be well in the world and people would start communing with the animals .. global warming would reverse itself and aliens would come down to earth and introduce us to warp drive

the faction that is against this have it all fingered out .. righteous and good

Amen brothers and sisters!

There I go screwing it up.
I don't remember the exact words, but I remember it was so poorly worded that it conjured up a teenager like Beavis & Butthead snicker outta me.
Dave

Here ya go:
Mr. Bucket, toss your balls in my top, they pop outta my mouth...ok, I'm juvenile for finding that amusing...LOL
