What would be an ideal portable rig for the upright. I have been looking at e.a. products. Is there anything else that you would recommend???

Double Bass Portable amp

A number of us are fans of Acoustic Image. Their latest is the Ten2, which I own and adore. The earlier model is the Contra, which I've also owned and also really, really liked and which they still sell.
The only downside to the Ten2 is that it's a few pounds heavier, but they're both portable, and for the last year (?) or so, they come separable, meaning if you buy the combo you can use it as separate head and cabinet should you wish to, e.g., use the AI head with a different cab.
The Mooradian bag (an extra cost option) for the Ten2 comes with a shoulder strap, but I just had Mooradian make me backpack straps - the bag already had the hooks, just not the shorter straps. Works great for me, and it means a single trip with the amp on my back and my bass in front of me.
Not for nothin', I currently own 2 Ten2's and have one of them for sale here on TalkBass.

I have the Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-8t and the 10" extension cab for larger gigs. I love the Shuttle with 8" cab, very portable and loud enough for jazz ensemble practice. I use a fDeck pre and a Rev Solo. I have to dial down the mids and dial in the pre to get a nice warm tone
It looks like they're only making this in 10" and 12" models now - the 8T showed up as discontinued for me - is that right?

I'm not sure I bought a slightly used model off musicians friend. The genz benz website also doesn't show that it's discontinued.
I just got the MB112 from GK. Very, very nice amp. Perfect for anything from duo stuff and loud enough to keep up with a big band in a large auditorium. Around 30 pounds, 200 watts, single 12.
I'm using a GK MB200 I just bought, with an Ampeg Portabass 12. This is working quite nicely, and the GK is available from Amazon for $250. I've always liked to have two cabs and two amps, so as to have flexibility -- I also have an Eden Traveler and an SWR 2X10. But the GK has proved just wonderful, although I can't vouch for its ruggedness. But lord, it's under 3 lbs and the size of a book...and 200 watts.
