Portable Audio Player For Transcription Work

I practice in the evenings and want to avoid using my phone or laptop.

Main thing I need from the audio player is that it gives me an easy way to play from a specific part of the track.

Adjustable playback speed would be a great bonus.

Recommendations or other solutions much appreciated.

What's the hesitation with using a phone or laptop? These are the most ubiquitous tools for this job, also including a tablet.

I just like to unplug when I practice, especially in the evenings. It's not a huge deal, I can use my laptop with nothing open apart from music, but it still feels like it intrudes on my space.

Fair enough. I was just curious. Does the playback device also need to pass the input signal from your bass, or are you playing music out loud and practicing through an amp?

The latter, I'm playing out loud with an amp and have speakers with aux for the track.
