PORTABLE BASS AMPLIFIER

9v center negative is the power requirement for 99% of our pedals, preamps, tuners, wireless, etc.
Isn't this thread about a portable amp? Are you sure you're on the correct thread? Nothing has been said here about pedals. The battery I suggested is for an amp using the A/C plug, nothing else.

Electro-Voice Everse 8
Bought one about a month ago and used it ever since as my only amp: rehearsals with (unamplified) drums, busking with drums while also pluging vocal mic in it, small openair stage gigs with drums while it served both as my monitor and as my DI box.
Beforehand, I tested about 5 other similar battery amps incl. Bose S1, and the Everse 8 just beats them all when it comes explicitly to bass amplification.
Just yesterday we were busking in quartet, and the guitarist couldn't keep up with me in volume while playing his resonator guitar through a brand new Positive Grid Spark 2 amp; in the end I had to turn the Everse down…

Ok What would you say, is the percent breakdown in guitar/bass pedal voltage supply reqmts, produced over the last 45 years?
You mentioned wireless earlier, almost all wireless by the three leading manufacturers are center positive, anywhere from 12-15V.

Guitar pedals are much more likely to be 9V, center negative, but there are many exceptions too... here are a few that I am aware of:
Neural Quad & Nano Cortex is 12V, center negative
Darkglass Anagram is 9-12V, center negative
Many Eventide pedals are 12V, center positive (I have an H9 sitting here)
TwoNotes pedals are 12V, center negative
Many Aguilar V2 pedals are 18V, center negative
TrickFish is 12V, center positive
Carvin pedals are 12V, center positive
Nordstrand Preamp is 12-15V (AC)

This is why pedal board power supplies usually provide for outputs with higher voltage and center +/- selection. It's also why all of the pedals I have designed in the past 5 years will take 9-18V, center positive or negative. A lot of pedals have been damaged from assuming 9V, center negative is always used.

My fav preamp requires 18v. I think my G10 works with a 5v USB, or a 9v:

Ok, it might not be 99%, but its a very large percentage, like 90% run on 9v center negative. I think power blocks support this as well, 90% of the ports are 9v CN. Now that may be incorrect for the bass gear crowd. So important exception noted.

So, pretty impressed with the Bass Rx. I was skeptical from the early reviews, but then realized they were comparing with non-battery favs, lol. Gotta love folks. I got it cheap, just like my micro cube. I think Ill invest in rechargeable batteries this time, this looks like a good option, thanks!

Your favorite products are what they are, other players have favorite products as well that may be different. This is a BASS GEAR forum, which is why I provided information the way I did.

For example, all the wireless that I have worked with/installed are not 9V center negative, and these are very much used by bass players (generally at the upper levels). I did not pull my information out of my rear end...

Neither do I. Too old, too indifferent for all of that. I revised 99% to 90% of pedals require 9v center negative. 90% of pedals are guitar focused, but the two bass pedals I use also require 9v center negative including a Sansamp Tech 21. Isn't a G10 the most popular wireless? I don't know, are you sure 90% of bass pedals are also 9v center negative? Its looking that way to me.
 
All I deal with are the pro wireless systems by the big three pro wireless companies. 0 percent use 9V, center negative. In fact, they all use 12-18V, center positive. Been that way for decades.

I would guess that maybe 80-90% of guitar pedals use 9V, center negative but nowhere near 99%.
