SMASH,
Been lurking on this forum for some time now, learning alot, and am very impressed with this place...it's a pretty cool, diverse forum. Excellent jazz pickup testing thread you've done BTW, very informative.
Anyways, thanks for all the info on these minidisc player/recorders (and you others, too), I've checked out most of the links you provided for more info on these and there is really alot to learn.
I'm new at recording, just wanting to record myself, one guitarist, and a drum machine. I'm looking at a few used players now, one in fact is the MD-MT15 that you have. Good price, and am pretty close to getting it. I've already got the Sony ECM-MS907 Stereo mic (uses 1 AA battery).
Was wondering what you or anyone else thought of this setup. I'm planning on putting the player on a recliner chair that is in the middle of the room, about mid way between the amps. I've seen also that someone said something about taping the mic to the wall. Which would be a better placement? Also, from what I've read, the only way to get the minidisc recordings from the player to the computer is from the headphone out line in the player to the mic in or line in on the computer. From there, what software (low cost, money IS an object for this single dad raising two kids), is needed before I can burn to disc?
Damn, this got long for a first post. Sorry.
Any opinions greatly appreciated.
