Portland Oregon area Scam Artist Busted! Warwick Dolphin 5 String - FOUND!

I had a bass shipped to Portland Oregon by UPS. There was a delivery attempt made shortly after Noon, no one home, signature required. The driver came back just before 6pm and claims the recipient signed the delivery attempt notice marking it was OK to leave the package without a signature. The recipient had not been home yet, and Certainly would not want this package just left on the porch of this busy street.

At any rate keep an eye out for this bass in the Portland Oregon area. It is one of 4 with this body wood according to Florian at the Warwick Forums. It is a 1999 Warwick Dolphin Pro I 5 String with Birds Eye Maple Body, Serial Number G - 64556 - 99

Just an update, this bass is reported stolen with the Portland Police. UPS is trying to say that it was Properly delivered because they claim the InfoNotice left on the door was signed allowing them to just leave the package. But the 1st attempt was at Noon, and the package was left at 6pm. The recipient was at work until much later. Also they can not show me a Signature on the InfoNotice. Maked sure you select "Sender required a Signature at time of Delivery." This way UPS is required to witness the signature. And it costs no more. I have appealed UPS's decision and it looks like someone in Package Location is starting to notice the Irregularities as well, so maybe a claim will be paid. In the mean time, this Aquatic Mammal is at large and considered in Danger!

Update! Contact was made by a man in Missouri who claims to have bought this from someone while he was in Portland. He said he wanted to send this back to me, and just get his $200 back, but he has disappeared. Anyone in Missouri who sees this bass please contact me, the police, or UPS at once! UPS is still investigating this matter, and I have CraigsList postings in Missouri.

It turns out that the CraigsList guy, Paul Griffin at 660 221-8124 is a Scam Artist. He scours the Lost / Stolen items across the country and claims to be a Truck Driver who picked up your item from a "Shady Charecter" in a WalMart parking lot, or whatever, and only wants his $200 back. But he wants you to send him his $$$ first through Western Union. False Hopes, but I'm sure the Dolphin will surface eventually...

OK! Talkbass has taken action!

It turns out that the Original Purchaser, BassAce77 AKA David Walker of Portland OR did in fact take delivery of this bass back in 2014, and Lied about it being missing / stolen. He had me do Battle with UPS 3 Months getting him a "Refund". It seems that he has been doing the "Missing Package, I need you to get me a Refund" scam here for some time now, and may have some still in progress! Feel free to Speak up if you have had Shady Dealings with this Scam-Artist.

But this IDIOT sanded the serial number off of this Rare Bass, and Stamped a Non-Warwick serial number on it, and produced a Bogus Bill of Sale citing the serial number. Then he made the mistake of Trading the bass with someone here on Talkbass. Someone I have done business with, Messaged, and a fellow Warwick Lover.

At any rate, UPS has been notified, I am consulting with a Lawyer, and Local, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies have an interest in this matter! I am contacting Portland's local News Stations to see if they would be interested in covering this story as it unfolds.

That's the news...

And as a longtime TB trader or whatever, I'm the guy who has the Dolphin and put the pieces together. Maddanthony did well by reposting and making this ad, which is how I found it once I got the bass.

When it's all said and done, I'm hoping to get Warwick to redo the serial, but for now, we got a show to watch. Unless I'm holding the bag at the end, but in all honesty I don't care if that happens. This all needed to be done.
