Possible 1975 Jazz Bass

Link Removed

I hate to detract from the thread, but what is that bass on the upper left? It's really cool looking! Looks like somewhat of a german/american hybrid.

If it plays well, get it. It can't hurt to try to get the price down a bit more though.
I noticed that one too, definitely gonna check that one out when I go in Tuesday (they aren't open Monday for some reason) they're gonna hold the jazz bass for me cause it's about an hour and a half drive there

I'll guess it's a butchered P-bass, or even G&L as the neck dots look bigger than a Fender. Or a parts bass with a DIY body. I'll further guess they want too much for whatever it is. ;)

Like a few posters said, if the neck is good meaning no issues and you like the feel of it, and the bass is not excessively heavy for you also (importantly) that you like the bass better than your P-bass, then I wouldn't let the pu's/battery case/routing stand in you way unless you are in it for an investment. If it's to be a player, then you only need to trust how you really feel about it after playing it. Bring your own amp and a strap so you hear it exactly how you will be hearing it and feel the weight standing. EMG's can sound really good depending and some of their pre's have adjustments for further tone shaping. I own a few Jazz basses and one that is EMG active has great tone. Guy Pratts Burgundy Mist '64 J has EMG's and I bet it sounds as amazing as it looks.

And don't give up your P-bass case unless the J doesn't fit or if they don't have a case for the J. Music stores always play the "case extra" card so play back or fold.
