This one isn't even a good copy. The pickups are wrong and it's a bolt-on/glue-on.

Maybe not a good "copy" if you're trying to fake it, but this bass is great for what it is - not a crappy bass by any means. And the neck IS bolt on.

I've used my Ibanez 2388B (technical model name) to record in my friends studio and he used to own a couple Rickenbacker 4001 basses. He told me this bass is lighter weight (which I believe, mine weighs about 8.5 lbs), sounds monstrous recorded and really cuts through a mix, and I can gig it around and trash it without worrying about resale value.

In all seriousness, if anyone is looking for a great playing bass, someone should toss that guy an offer. I'd try somewhere between $500-$800 would be about fair.

Of course I'm holding onto mine until the distant future where these basses will be worth more than real Ricks because of the rarity of their existence (let a guy dream)

Absolutely correct! At the last guitar show someone had a nice "Ibanezenbacker" there for sale. Price was $600.

I briefly considered it but at that price I wouldn't want it to be missing a string.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not slamming it. I'm just saying it's obviously so not-Rickenbacker it's not funny.

It's a Rick-shaped guitar but that's about it.

Nothing wrong with having one of these and playing it at all.
