Post sound clips of your rig!

Here's a youtube clip of my band and I playing Folsom Prison.

The rig is an LMII and Schroe 1212R. Outside on solid concrete. The mic on the video camera is distorting a bit so its best to view the clip using the "watch in high quality" link at the bottom.

This first one is a new jazz/funk/soul project that we just started. Played our first gig last weekend. The clips are three of the demo recordings we did for radio play and for getting gigs. If anyone happens to know the real name of the second one (called Garaj on the site) please let me know. Its a Garaj Mahal tune that we just found, but wasn't named.

For these I'm playing a 2001 Warwick Thumb BO through my pedalboard (but no effects were used) into a Markbass F1. I then DIed from the F1 to the engineer, who I believe just added some compression.

If you skip forward a little past the heads into the solo sections you can hear the bass better.

The second one is an 80's cover band I play with. A few of these recordings were made straight from the board at a live show with a little post production cleanup and the others are from recordings in the crowd. Not much post production on those, just a little mixing. On these its my same Warwick, pedalboard (mostly played dry on these songs) into a SWR Workingman (15 and tweeter).

I wish I had some recordings of just the bass, but I just don't do much home recording. The demo songs are definately better quality, but hopefully they all sound well enough.

Well, these aren't recordings straight through my rig exactly. Mostly it's bass plugged straight into my Motu and then just a little compression added. The second tune does have one of my rigs in-line though, a Roland CB-100 with some quazi Bootsy fx going on. The amp model is Rolands super flat, then some envelope filter and a touch of delay,both buit-ins on the amp.. incredible little amp that's way underated IMHO. The tunes are on my myspace.

Follow my myspace link and listen to the song Hand Candy. It starts with a simple bass riff all by itself where you can get an idea of my rig at the time. It was recorded with a fender Geddy lee jazz and an sansamp RBI-gk1001-swr golliath3, miked. I never liked the sound of it all that much on the recording but some people do.

Nice tones guys! Almost too nice. Diggin it Goldfish, nice solid slap (assuming it's a gentle slap).

I'd like to hear how Sansamp Master sounds in the mix though- a lot of the sweetness might get lost.

I guess you're referring to me (SansAmp Master) maybe I should change my username - lol. Anyhow, I did find a clip of the bass shown below through my main rig at an outside picnic event earlier this summer. The MIA stayed home because it was brutally hot that afternoon. That said, this modified Squier (although nice & growly), does not have nearly the same sweetness as my MIA's pickups/preamp. The NJ5F's in it are a vintage sounding set of pickups, not modern, but they do have a great deal of clarity to them. It should give a decent enough approximation of the SansAmp tone about 35-40 feet back from the stage as recorded through a Zoom H2 recorder. Try to ignore the crowd noise (kids, talking, etc).

This is my 120 watt tube Peavey Butcher guitar amp into an avatar 4x10 cab and an avatar 2x12 cab. I miced one of the 10 inch speakers. It's a quick and rough clip, but it gives you an idea of how fat the tone is even with a guitar head.

Stoner rock, nothing but drums and bass. We have two videos up of a couple songs. Not the best quality and we have a couple mess ups but until we get to recording, they'll have to do. In the videos I'm using a Sunn Concert Bass into a Bag End 1x18 pa cab, and an Eden D410T. As far as effects, I use a Boss OC-3, Earthbound Audio Effects Supercollider, and a Boss GEB-7. Basses I use in this band are Epiphone Thunderbird and an SX Jazz. I've changed my sound a bit from those two videos. More low end and less grindy high end.

That's only half of what my live rig is going to be. As soon as the Earth Sound Research Amp gets fixed, and we start playing shows, I'll be playing through this...

The Sunn head is 200 watts and will be running the 1x18 and the 4x10. The Earth head, if it ever gets fixed, is 220 watts at 2ohms.. it will be running the Waller (8ohms) and the 2x15 I just bought today, an old Acoustic 406 (4ohms)... OR I might just skip the 4x12 and use the Acoustic 2x15 with the Earth 2x15. Either way, people will be crushed. ha
