Updated room/synth/fun board

Chain is

Barge RC-3 > OC-2 > Keeley modded Rat > Devi Ever Hyperion > Moog LPF > EHX DMM > PW Tuner > Boss RC-2

Whole thing is on a PT-JR and it's powered by a voodoo lab PP2

The expression pedal is controlling the Cutoff on the Moog, and the circular foot switch to the side turns on my space echo (not pictured)

I can get some pretty gnarly tones out of this setup, I don't use it in any bands, but I might start screwing around on some solo stuff so who knows.

Someone actually has a black face rat like me! yours is modded though. Is it just the led mod? How do you like it?

If your rat looks like mine (or mine yours) then we have "White Face"rats.

I actually bought it modded, just the LED and some capacitor upgrades, gives it better bass response (A/B'd with my guitarist's 87' Black Face Rat).

I have an early 90's Big Box reissue too (also modded, but by FX Doctor) I actually like the sound of that one more, although the white face has a more versatile gain range (cleaner to dirty).

But overall I love both my rats, they are some of the best distortion/od/fuzz purchases I've ever made....and there have been a lot of those.

After ongoing revamps and/or pedals, here's the latest version of my board. Recent changes include taking my Multicomp off and trying life without a compressor, switching to a 1-spot (from a DC Brick) and finally gave in to my G.A.S. and got a 3Leaf, which I'm confident is the filter that will end my "Perfect Filter" search. The Pitch Shifter and Loopstation are the two slots that switch out regularly based on mood.

However, after watching the Invalid Link Removed, the POG2/SMMwH/Cathedral all hit my G.A.S. list pretty hard... we'll see where that leads me. hehehe

Cut a bit of fat, swapped out octaves and streamlined my main board a bit:

The tuner goes into the NS-2, which has the Symetrix 501 compressor (racked), BOD (which I got for a steal off of Craigslist), Disnortion, VT and LS-2 (in that order) in the loop. The dirty output on the Disnortion feeds the VT, which goes into the "input" of the LS-2, and the clean output goes straight to "return A" on the LS-2. That allows me to switch the clean blend on and off at will. The NS-2 then goes to the SMMH, and then it's off to Ampland.

Shot by a friend at a recent show. Swapped the Depth Charge for a V2 Supercollider and really digging how huge of a difference the "deep" knob makes. Lost the DOD FX25 for a Moog Low Pass w/ exp pedal to control the cutoff filter. Added a Superfreq UglyFace synth fuzz pedal for exclusive use with the Moog. Overall moving towards a more synth oriented sound and less clean bass/heavy rock oriented stuff. Looking to swap the Copilot Android for an Empress Tremolo and a smaller ring modulator. Not sure if the UglyFace is going go stay, debating swapping it for a Copliot Orbit.

Having an issue with the Moog EP-2 expression pedal, I can't seem to screw the bolts on the sides to get the pedal to stay in the heel down position. Anyone know which side of the pedal and which direction to turn the bolt? Tried both and it just seems to keep turning without tightening up the sweep at all.

Really dig your board, and your band too. If you want ring modulator and tremolo, try out Moog Ring Modulator, it is great tool for space/doom type of music.

Thank you, dying to get into a friend's music studio and record some decent tracks now that we've been playing for a few months. I really want the Moog Ring Mod, but just don't have any board space left. Whatever ring/trem I get would have to be around MXR sized. The Android is great but unfortunately has some pops and artifacts that make it almost unuseable as a trem when you crank the volume up and seem potentially damaging to speakeres when paired with octave down and low pass effects. Been meaning to email the guy about it to see what can be done.

Yeah, board size is problem, but it stopped me from buying pedals for a while. Now i have time to reconsider my g.a.s...

Thanks man,

I actually ended up trading the modded 250 to Sean at Emperor cab's in exchange for him re-tolexing this little Bag End 2x10 I picked up.

I was on a total overdrive kick for a couple months, the 250 was fun but I ended up settling on a couple of Rat's and an Aguilar AGRO

I still need to get a chorus to place in front of my Memory Boy, change all the cables to lava cables cut to the lengths I need, and get a proper power supply.
