I was fortunate to go to a Middle School where we actually had "Music Class" three times a week. The instructor was a wonderfully gifted lady. Betty had a big heart and a huge, bone-vibrating Alto. Each year she'd solo 'Oh Holy Night' for us, and later in life I discovered she did the same every Christmas Eve at a little Church not too far away, so I'd go hear her every chance I got. She was that good.
Scouring YouTube I've found nothing like the straight but enthralling rendition Betty did, but I did find one I like. The guitar drone gets a little much for me on this home-brew version, but the pair have 'em some pipes:

This is simply beautiful. And I prefer it to the big-production a cappella style that tries to sound like a full band.

"The Tonight Show Orchestra released a Christmas album? I did not know that!" (I say in my best Johnny Carson voice). I'm getting that album! I've had the "A Charlie Brown Christmas" album for many years.
